I am boarding the time machine when I arrive at the gates of the ancient city of Pompei. It’s no piece of cake for a kid, yet alone for 3 kids to walk a day on 2000 years old cobblestones, but it was all worth it. Archaeologists are still digging and working on preserving the site but what is truly amazing is that back in those days they had hotels, complete with restaurants and spas, private owned businesses and they were commissioning artists to paint their houses and design the landscapes for their gardens. There are water fountains that are still working today and biologists planted the seeds which they found during the excavations, so the gardens look exactly like they did in the days when people were living and breathing in this town. My brother and sisters were really brave and we took a nice history ride together that I hope you’ll enjoy. See how the people of Pompei died and how the archaeologists found them in the exact position they took their last breath. Hold back your tears if you can.
